Smart grids offer the potential to reduce energy system costs by aligning demand and supply on the basis of the exchange of detailed information. To provide more clarity on the potential added value of smart grids, Ecofys has carried out a study that investigates two existing and representative medium-voltage grids in the Netherlands. The study was carried out for Netbeheer Nederland, the association of grid operators in the Netherlands.
